What you need to know to find and use bus data published through the Bus Open Data Service.

Discovering data

The web interface is used to discover bus data for use in your applications and services.

To search for data, use the Find open data link in at the top of each page. The search bar function matches entered terms against against metadata such as the locations data sets cover and against the name and description of data sets.

Filters can be used to restrict results to data sets published by particular operators; data sets in particular geographic areas; data sets with a particular status; and data sets for bus services operating after a specified date.

The data set pages returned in the search results provide details of the published data. This includes the name and a description of the data set as well as meta data such as the format of the data, areas of the country it covers, and start and end dates for the data. The page also includes a map showing the bus routes contained within the data.
